Summary Abstract
This session seeks to advance shared preservation goals by encouraging partnerships across technical communities and geographic regions. It will showcase the international activities of the International Internet Preservation Consortium (IIPC) and the International Image Interoperability Framework Consortium (IIIF-C).
Leaders from the IIPC and IIIF-C will provide an overview of their organizations and how their complementary technical and community frameworks work within the broader context of international cooperation in areas including digital preservation, digital access and discovery, and sustainability. Included will be the Haerenga (Journey) of the IIPC/IIIF-C from their origins to current structure; the challenges and opportunities presented by Tūtaki (Encounter) with disruptive technologies (e.g. AI) and global instability; and how the ability to Tūhono (Connect), across disciplines, commercial/non-commercial partnerships, and growing networks, provides both stability and complications.
Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of how IIPC and IIIF-C tools and communities can be leveraged together, and actionable insights into building more integrated, user-driven preservation infrastructures.
