City Centre Project
Abstract
Like many cities in Aotearoa and globally, Tauranga’s city centre has been in decline. After years of underinvestment, coupled with the pandemic advancing changes in the way people shop and do business, Tauranga was languishing. This presentation seeks to leave you with a little bit of FOMO (fear of missing out) by highlighting the new sense of momentum in the centre of Tauranga. The transformation of the city centre is well underway to create a destination that our community has told us they want – one that’s vibrant, well-planned and safe, a city centre that is accessible and diverse, enhances our natural environment, and has more activities for everyone to enjoy. The presentation will focus on the high levels of collaboration that have helped us deliver great outcomes for our community along the way.
