Christchurch City Council Ōtautahi Christchurch Central City Living History Walk
Project Description
At the Christchurch City Council (CCC) Archives, we’ve turned budget limitations into an opportunity for creative engagement, by creating a collaborative and innovative self-guided historic walking tour.
By collaborating with Christchurch City Libraries and our GIS colleagues we designed the tour using ESRI Storymaps. Launching on the 26th September residents and visitors will be able to take their device and go on a journey to explore what life would have been like for the people of Ōtautahi Christchurch during the late 1800s.
The interactive map supports geolocated text, photographic and audio content and the location feature allows participants to see where they are on the map in relation to the tour route. Participants can explore as much or as little of the tour as they would like, completely at their own pace, creating a unique customer experience.
