Project Description
The Common Operating Picture (COP) is a game changing initiative not only for Tairawhiti, but also for its capability at a national level. This innovative tool is poised to significantly enhance the management and communication of data during disaster response and recovery efforts.
Developed in response to coordination gaps revealed by multiple severe weather events, the Tairāwhiti Civil Defence Emergency Management (CDEM) team initiated this project to improve situational awareness through an advanced COP designed specifically for civil defence emergencies.
The COP provides a digital platform that integrates real-time data with geospatial mapping, enhancing situational awareness and providing access to crucial decision-making tools that streamline response activities.
Through effective collaboration and leveraging in-house expertise, Tairāwhiti CDEM and Gisborne District Council (GDC) developed a sophisticated COP that enables timely responses and supports informed decision-making processes.
This initiative exemplifies the power of collaboration in strengthening community resilience in the face of disasters.
