Abstract
Marty will share the journey of local government shared service and collaboration using the successful model developed at MW LASS. The presentation will highlight how Debt Management Central and Archives Central have evolved into a thriving, scalable operation with strong potential for continued growth. He will provide an overview of the benefits of the shared services approach and discuss potential future opportunities for further collaboration within the sector
Biography
As a key member of the Manawatū-Whanganui Local Authority Shared Services (MW LASS) Leadership Group, the Operations Manager is responsible for the strategic leadership and delivery of all strategic and operational Business Units.
Marty provides strategic advice to the Executive Officer and MW LASS Board on all functions within their scope of accountability and looks to solve complex issues, including identifying and advising on future opportunities.
About Marty
Marty has 10 years’ experience with local authorities via MW LASS, with the last five years as the Operations Manager at MW LASS. Prior to working in local government Marty spent 24 years with the Ministry of Justice in various management roles. He has an enviable track record in management and organisational leadership.
Outside work, Marty enjoys travelling with his wife and exploring or being in the outdoors whether it’s in the ocean, at the river or on one of the many hiking trails around the Manawatū. Marty also remains actively engaged in his community through voluntary positions with sports clubs and, up until recently, was involved in coaching rugby for 20 years.
