Details
The Hutt City Council (HCC) is currently on a digital transformation journey, delivered through the Go Digital programme, with the intention to consolidate technologies, reduce operational costs and implement efficiencies across the organisation.
The Building Consent Digitisation Project was tasked with implementing a system where Hutt City Council customers can apply for a building consent through Objective Build/GoGet, a new service designed to create consistency, transparency, and quality in building applications. HCC was one of the first Councils in New Zealand to successfully implement Objective Build – the customer facing portal.
With Hutt City Council coming on board, this is one step closer to customers having one account to handle all building consent applications across other Councils using Objective Build.
With the new system, as well as applying for a consent, customers are also able to apply for a Code Compliance Certificate (CCC), a Certificate of Acceptance (COA) and Project Information Memorandums (PIM). All of their applications are visible through a single logon.
This new system has been built after interviews with over a hundred builders, architects, designers, and industry professionals across New Zealand to ensure it meets their needs. It improves the ability to reuse information across applications, clearly see the status of a building consent application, action required updates, and manage a building consent throughout the lifecycle.
