Finance Services Refresh Project – levelling up our financial capability When an opportunity arose for Hutt City Council to upgrade its finance system to a more advanced CiAnywhere platform, the business was very keen to stand up a project and improve their financial capability across Council. The Council Group was operating T1 on the Ci platform but when T1 CiA, the latest version was available to HCC at no extra cost. This version has better improved functionalities (such as dashboard reporting and analytics) that is available through existing licencing which was not made use of, and the FSR project was stood up. The Financial Services Refresh project (TechnologyOne Financials version upgrade from Ci to CiAnywhere) enabled easy access to consistent and reliable information from a single source system, remove the need for manual intervention in finance processes and support improved financial capability across the group. On July 1, 2022 the modernised and enhanced finance system (CiAnywhere) went live and the associated changes to the General Ledger and the introduction of the project ledger came into effect. These changes were the foundation of several enhancements to the system that were rolled over the following months including a dashboard feature that provided an insightful overview of HCC’s financial landscape. The additional enhancements included a contracts module, delivered in February 2023, and the project closed on April 20, 2023. The Finance System Refresh project was made of the following components; - Chart of Accounts Review - Access rights review - Financials upgrade - Enterprise budgeting upgrade - New modules or functionality Strategic alignment The FSR Project (FSR) set out to drive forward the Go Digital Programme strategic focus areas of improving productivity, accessibility, information and analytics, digital by design and being customer centric. More specifically, FSR aimed to transform HCC’s financial toolset and support building stronger financial capability across the business and improve financial management practices across revenue and expenditure budgets. This included the upgrade of the TechnologyOne finance system from Ci to CiAnywhere version.
