Biography

Dr Adam Mowlam has over fifteen years experience leading multidisciplinary teams across all levels of government in areas including smart cities, digital twins, spatial sciences, technology innovation, business process integration and data management. He currently leads the Smart City Program at the City of Greater Geelong. His leadership saw the City recognised in the 2023 Australian Financial Review (AFR) Most Innovative Companies List and as a 2023 Intelligent Community Forum (ICF) Top7 Smart Community. In 2022, Geelong was named International Smart City of the Year, alongside Barcelona City. His current role involves fostering a dynamic environment that encourages new ideas, tests established thinking, and addresses city-wide challenges using smart technology. Before his current role, he served as the Digital Twin Strategic Lead with the Victorian Government and led the Smart City Program with Wyndham City Council. Adam graduated from The University of Melbourne with a PhD and a Bachelor of Geomatics Engineering and Bachelor of Information Systems. He currently sits on both the Regional Digital Leaders Forum a Member of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Digital Twin Cities - Global Advisory Committee and has previously served as President of Australia Smart Communities Association (ASCA) and NSW Smart Places Advisory Council.
