Resiliency and Risks for Repositories - Preserve or Perish, Prevent and Promote
Summary Abstract
In this Birds of a Feather session, repository representatives can connect (tūhono) and candidly express the sustainability risks they face - encounters (tūtaki) like insufficient funds, political shifts, cyber-attacks on infrastructure, and environmental disasters. Together, we can explore pathways to preserve repository infrastructure (including personnel), such as resiliency scorecards evaluations, data mirroring, and organizational restructuring. In the event that a repository does ultimately perish at the end of its journey (haerenga), we’ll consider how to still ensure the preservation of the digital assets, as well as the scholarly record and applications that depend on them - continuity plans, landing page redirects, web service responses, and technology migrations. Going forward, can we do more to prevent these encounters or are these disruptions inevitable? How can we better promote the value of repository infrastructure, assets and services?
