Rationalising Contact Precautions
Abstract
Contact precautions are considered one of the fundamental interventions for reducing infection transmission. This talk will explore what is actually meant by Contact Precaution sand review the evidence for the various components of this intervention. The aim is to challenge our current assumptions and consider what place these should have in our current health system.
Biography
Matt is an Infectious Diseases Physician and Clinical Director at Capital Coast and Hutt Valley District. He is U.S. Board Certified in Infection Control and has a Masters of Research in Clinical Science from the UK. He has a particular interest in quality improvement relating to infection prevention which has included work on projects to reduce infections from peripheral cannula and improve aseptic technique.
