Sensible sensing: VivaCity Transport sensors at Wellington City Council
Abstract
Talking about technology and innovation in cities is easy. Delivering it is hard. Wellington City Council have partnered with VivaCity to install sensors around Pōneke that measure transport counts and create an accessible and scalable way of understanding how people are moving around the city. This presentation will cover the process of identifying the drivers for change and collaboration required to make it happen. We’ll delve into some of the challenges and lessons learnt and explore the open questions about what the future holds for this kind of sensor technology in the local government context.
