Is there anything worse than starting a new job and trying to search the intranet for meeting rooms or forms you need to sign, only to be faced with broken links, old fax numbers and outdated information? Probably, but it sure is highly annoying. Or what about a million staff emails about missing teacups in the kitchen? Pretty distracting. On top of all that, throw in a pandemic and now working from home. That’s where it started for us. How can we engage staff? Where do we put all this information? How do we make it look good? How do we get our leaders to communicate with everyone? How do we make people feel part of our work whānau online? We embarked on a transformative journey to revolutionise our intranet system. The "Digital Workplace – Wāhi mahi ā matihiko " project was born out of the pressing need to address the shortcomings of our existing intranet while embracing the paradigm shift towards remote work catalyzed by COVID-19. This project not only upgraded our intranet but also fostered a culture of adaptability and collaboration, ensuring that our staff seamlessly transitioned to using the new platform, including Microsoft Teams. The Digital Workplace wasn’t just going to be a new intranet, it was going to be a new way of working.
